This may be the best bit of planning advice I’ve ever received.
Not bad advice for life too.

Well hi there.
I guess this marks the ribbon cutting on my next adventure. As you may have heard, I’ve left Leo Burnett after 6 and some years.
[I’ve noticed that – completely unintentionally – I seem to do things in 6 year cycles. I did 6 years in high school (it was a combined middle/high school), 6 years in university, 6 years at my first job at Chiat/Day, and a bit more than 6 years at Leo. My wife and I got married 4 years ago; she tells me she’s somewhat worried.]
What beckoned is an opportunity to be the head of planning and part of the management team at a brand new agency called Juniper Park (it hasn’t officially launched yet, so don’t bother looking for a website or anything about it). The chance to help chart the course of a new agency is by turns exciting, fascinating, and terrifying. But more on that later.
So: new job, new blog. It’s actually a welcome chance for a fresh start at things. I’m glad to be writing under my own name rather than that of an agency. Writing on behalf of an agency, and with the weight of a big agency’s imprimatur, was wonderful and had many advantages, but it’s also nice to not have to worry about getting a call from the lawyers or getting fired.
My old posts will continue to live on the Leo Burnett blog. And what can you expect here? More of the same, really. Only difference will be I might wander a bit more into non-work related stuff from time to time. But that’s about it.
Thanks for sticking around.
